Our Mission

Our goal for Youth is to see all students intentionally choose to pursue God through establishing a relationship with Jesus. To this end, within our Youth Ministry we strive to create opportunities for youth to share their questions, their dreams, their ideas. We see opportunities for youth to share their life with others as they experience the wonders of a personal relationship with Christ. We facilitate opportunities for youth by encouraging individual growth through worship, Bible study, community service and participation in international and domestic missions.

Confirmation Week 5 - Prayer and the Bible

This week you are going to read Matthew 6:5-15.  This is one of my favorite passages in the Bible.  It's where Jesus teaches us how to pray.  Praying can be a hard thing.  I have often heard people say, "I'm really not sure what to say and I think what I say will sound stupid."  I know that God must have known that and that is why he equipped Jesus with the Lord's Prayer.  The Lord's Prayer is the prayer that many of us take for granted.  We recite those 68 words - from memory - without really thinking about what they mean.  To me, these words are not just words that flow from my mouth by habit.  I think about each line and the implications that the words have for me.  For me, the Lord's Prayer was the beginning of my prayer life.  As a teenager, I had concerns of not knowing what to say to God.  A mentor of mine suggested I spend a minute a day reciting the Lord's Prayer and reflecting on what the words really meant.  That was many years ago, however, that simple prayer - the one we take for granted - is the bedrock of my prayer life.  I now know that through HIM all things are possible.  Through HIM I can forgive others.  Through HIM I can lead others to HIM.  Through HIM I am complete.

I know this is NOT one of your questions, but what do you think a consistent prayer life can do for you?

See you all on Wednesday...fly with HIM!

Confirmation Week 4 - Who is the Holy Spirit?

Hey everyone

Cannot believe that we are in week four already...can you?  Everywhere I look lately, I see the wonders of God...the blue sky, the warmth of spring, and the buds on flowers.  This week, you were asked to read John 16:6-16.  After you read it, please answer the following question:

The Holy Spirit wants us to serve Jesus.  What areas at school or home can you think of that you can serve Jesus better?  I know in my own life, I get caught up in all that I am doing and sometimes I find that I have little to no time for Jesus.  That is pretty sad.  What I have been trying to do is slow down and really be true to HIM and not to myself.  I need to concentrate on what HE wants for me not what I want for myself.  In doing so, I am trying to meet people where they are - not where I want or think they should be.  I am trying to show people the grace that HE extends to me each day.  Grace is that forgiveness that we receive that we really don't deserve.  Can you imagine one of your friends forgiving you for something that you've done to them with no questions asked?  Wow - that would really blow their socks off, don't you think?  So this week as you go through your week, do the unexpected thing...be the hands and feet of Jesus...

See you Wednesday.

Confirmation Week 3 - Who is Jesus?

Read Joshua 22:5 and answer the question below.

When was a time you felt close to God?

There have been many times that I have felt close to God.  Oddly enough, one of my fondest memories was one of my saddest, too.  One of my girlfriends was battling cancer and had just been admitted to the hospital for what would be the last time.  I rushed to the hospital with another one of my friends.  When we arrived, Deborah's husband gave the three of us some time to be alone.  Renee was at Deborah's head stroking her face and telling her how much we loved her.  I was at her feet - rubbing them and praying as tears ran down my face.  I couldn't help but reminded of the time in the Bible when Jesus washed the servant's feet.  Deborah's feet were literally bathed in my tears.  God is with us in our happiest of times and is our anchor in the times we need him the most.  I hope that you will have many opportunities in your lifetime to experience his presence.  He is always there...listen for him, feel him, get to know him.

I cannot wait to see you on Wednesday.

Confirmation Week 2 - God and The Old Testament

Hey guys:

Hope you are having an awesome week and are growing deeper in your faith with each passing day.  We are so excited that you have joined confirmation and are taking a spiritual journey with us.  The best part about confirmation is that your journey is just beginning.   We are just so pumped that we will be walking through the first steps with you!

This week you were asked to read Genesis 1:1-28 and 2:2-7.  In the passages, God said, "It is good."  Why do you think he said that?

Post your answer and I look forward to seeing you on Wednesday!!!  In the meantime, dive into the journey - be steadfast and committed and He will reveal himself to you.
